Things can only get better
The storms have not left us alone for long, a few hours at the most, and things are really bad for the little lambs being born and indeed for all animals in general, except for ours, who have meals delivered twice a day and dry warm shelter. Lucky things!!
Others are not so lucky, rivers have burst their banks and whole paddocks and farms are under water, there has been SO much rain the houses are slipping into big holes in the earth and roads are disappearing the same way.
Other animals are not so lucky, and it breaks my heart to see them , starving and stuck in bogs, that our their paddocks, I know it’s hard for all concerned, but , that does not make it any easier to see.
For all the regulars, please bear with me as I re-arrange the shop to a more suitable position and add more organic products and garden tools.
There are some awesome things out there for a great garden on the internet and I am having a hard time NOT buying them ALL myself!!
I planted out my asparagus crowns the other day, I left it as late as I could on the hope the rain would abate, but , I did make the bed more raised and covered them with a layer or 10cm hay.
So, fingers crossed, they haven’t drowned. I will try and get out to check them the first chance I get and pull off the mulch so the winter sun has a chance of drying them out a little. Finger’s crossed.
The garlic I planted is looking REALLY good and healthy, and the chickens have finally left my bed of Jerusalem artichokes alone, hehe!!
The only real damage we really sustained was damage to our wool shed, it literally was blown apart by the winds, the roof at first looked like a huge can opener had been in action, then it disappeared all together!!
We have not had the weather to do running repairs without fear of serious injury, so if it falls down then so be it, the animals cannot get near it and I hope will be under shelter to avoid damage by flying iron from the roof and walls.
We are not the only flying wool shad, all our neighbours sheds are falling down under the wind, its a shame, at least ours is derelict to begin with.
It’s a situation we can do nothing about, so, just make sure your animals have the BEST care you can give them, and roll on the spring when at the very least I would recommend a herbal ley in a portion of EVERY paddock. Use natures healing plants and herbs to nourish your ailing animals and soil.
