Is My Dream, Finally, Coming True ??
I am nervous, a little scared and full of hope at the same time, is this spring and summer going to be a time when one of my dreams will come true??
When I first saw our piece of paradise, Mother nature gave me a ‘picture’, so vivid, of what this piece of land wanted to be.
I have toiled, sweated and done some really hard work over the time we have been on our piece of paradise.
But, now it time to get busy and finally sow and grow some precious Heirloom seeds…THIS is why I am a nervous wreck!!
Is this summer going to be drier than last year? Will the ‘naughty’ chickens get to eat all my seeds before they germinate??
All these things I worry about, my kitchen garden has been a long time coming and now the time is finally here and I need to take a deep breath, and keep telling myself, YES it’s finally happening.
I walk around the bamboo beds, like my head master used to walk up and down the classroom, inspecting this and that. Sometimes shaking my head, and more often than not having a huge smile on my face..little pods on the broad beans, little leaves of potatoes just starting to break the surface of the soil…it’s SO exciting!
I nurture my little charges, I run out in torrential rain and lovingly cover my little asparagus crowns with sheets of iron so they won’t drown, much to my partners horror.
I woo my partner with lines like, come and see my broad beans, come and see how big my fennel bulbs are.. I mean what more could a girl want??
My partner is a widow to my organic kitchen garden, I spend hours working on my garden diary…full moon calendar is place and to do’s for each moon phase up till 2010.
My partner is also a widow to my obsession of buying seeds and small seedling to adorn my kitchen garden.
But, I cannot stop!! When you have tasted things grown in your own garden, believe me, there is NO going back.
Your taste buds deserve the best, and going out into your own kitchen garden and gathering food for the table is an experience NOT to be missed.. keep tuned for all the glorious details of a wonderful spring and summer bounty.

I love kitchen gardens. I have two. Please don’t ask me to choose between them. I confess my undying love for both.
Blessings you and your partner!!!!

Thank you both for the great comments, yes, I know how you feel Lacy, I seem to be sapped of energy if I am away from the garden for a few days, I devote a lot of love and attention to it and Matty, photos coming really soon!!
