An Unfair Dismissal!
Our beautiful Lizzy is back home, after suffering an appalling unfair dismissal at the hands of her former employers.
It appears, our girl made the wife of her employer jealous! Lizzy took her orders from her master and NOT the mistress of the house, smart girl, if you ask me!!
You could see the headlines in the local gossip column…Two year old bitch in love triangle, only having adoring eyes for her master, wife gets revenge while husband’s away…
You can hear the gossip, ohhh! yes she was definitely after the husband, smooching up and doing all the things a doggy girl will do to win the approval of her master.
But, when the wife gets jealous, beware, Lizzy had to go…
It was late on sunday morning and I was toiling away in the kitchen garden, when I heard the dogs telling me that someone was approaching the front door.
I dusted myself off and went to investigate, I had hardly set foot outside the gate, when I suddenly found myself, face to face with a very very angry lady.
She was shouting SO loud and speaking SO fast, that at first, I had trouble making out the words.
But, I did hear one sentence and sprang into action..“If you don’t come and pick up your dog, she will be shot tonight”
THE WIFE’S STORY
Lizzy, the wife breathless told me, had got into a fight with the husband’s alfa bitch, and after 20 mins of ferocious fighting, Lizzy, had, and I quote“ Ripped the face off the alfa bitch” and if I didn’t collect her straight away, she was going to have her shot that evening when her husband arrived home.
The wife, incensed, had NOT rung the vet, but, hot footed it around to our place to shout the odds.
AT THE SCENE OF THE CRIME
My partner and I went to fetch Lizzy straight away, on arrival, Lizzy has small superficial cuts over her face, but was SO happy to see us she came bounding over, all jumpy and squirmy, trying to get as much of her body against us as she could.
NOT the action of a bitch which has spent 20 mins fighting to the death.
I went to check out the other dog, and she was totally intact, tied up to her kennel, there was some bloody saliva and a small nick to her ear, but definitely NO face missing. I have been an A&E nurse for over 15 years, and believe me I WOULD know.
THE VERDICT
We have pondered, watched and shaken our heads in wonder, what on earth did happen??
Lizzy has always been VERY submissive around other dogs, she will go up to them and crawl along on her belly, roll onto her back and dutifully look away.
This behaviour has NOT changed, even around our four other dogs, there has been no signs of aggression, even now when she feels out of her routine, and trying to incorporate herself into the our pack again.
I have NEVER heard her growl, bark or snap at any of our four dogs out of anger, and certainly NEVER challenged for alpha dog status.
I know dogs, and dog behaviour and Lizzy is NOT alpha dog material and she knows it. I don’t know what occurred, but I have my suspicions and they are not kind to the screaming banshee who arrived on my door step.
But, for the moment we will enjoy our Lizzie and we will let sleeping dogs lie…
